**Distinct Motive** (Detroit/Toronto) – Dubstep
Deep, Dark & Dangerous / Navy Cut / BananaStandSound
Distinct Motive is a half American, half Canadian production duo creating explorative, visceral bass music for the masses. Formed in 2013, Josh Bates and Phil Shore have quickly made a name for themselves with their dark and minimal production style. Paying homage to the early aesthetic of dubstep while building a sound unique unto themselves, the pair have put their respective hometowns of Detroit and Niagara Falls/Toronto on the map in international bass music circles, advocating for the original, dub-influenced side of dubstep to elated audiences across North America.
After releasing their tracks ‘Rattler’, and ‘God’s Eye’, the pair teamed with American vinyl-only imprint BananaStandSound in 2015 to release their track ‘Krome’. Signed to Truth’s appropriately titled Deep Dark and Dangerous label in 2016, the pair premiered their track ‘40hz’, named after the legendary Toronto-based 40hz Soundsystem, to international acclaim. Garnering support from the likes of Noisia, Distance, N-Type, Bukez Finezt, Enigma Dubz and Squarewave, the track received the ultimate seal of approval when it was played by Mala at the Deep Medi Musik 10th Anniversary party. Their most recent vinyl release on Jack Sparrow’s Navy Cut label brings the tracks ‘Cessna Riddim’ and ‘Iron Lung’ to eagerly awaiting fans and DJs alike, further spreading awareness of their unique sound and energy
Distinct Motive is quickly proving themselves as a force to be reckoned with, inspiring ecstatic energy and movement on dancefloors using their deep selection of original material and exclusive dubplates. They seek to carry the flag of roots-influenced dubstep and explorative bass music further across North America and beyond in the coming year. Close attention should be paid to this cross-border duo as they continue to rise and make a name for themselves in the bass music world
**Pushloop** (Sacramento, CA) – Dubstep
Deep, Dark & Dangerous / Dank ‘N’ Dirty Dubz / MalLabel
From late night renegades in the Santa Cruz mountains to dark, sweaty nightclubs, Pushloop has spent the better part of a decade flexing soundsystems with a commanding presence. Inspired by artists like Mala, Truth, The Widdler, and Kryptic Minds, Pushloop has carved out his own unique sound blending world music elements with deep, heavy basslines. In late 2015, Pushloop caught the attention of MalLabel and signed his first official release “Jamila EP” featuring a massive remix by The Widdler. One year later, Pushloop released his second EP, “Midnight Wax” on Dank ‘N’ Dirty Dubz, which reached #1 on the Juno Dubstep chart by the end of the first week. Pushloop has shared the stage with electronic acts like Ganja White Night, The Widdler, DJ Madd, Thelem, Oxossi, Saule, and performed at major festivals like Emissions and Stilldream. With an upcoming tour and multiple bookings around the country, 2017 is off to a big start and Pushloop’s future is looking brighter than ever!
**REZ** (St Louis, MO) – Dubstep
Deep, Dark & Dangerous / Uprise Audio / Dub Sector / Prime Audio
Rez is a name in the underground dubstep game that is picking up some tremendous steam lately. With a reputable background as a drummer and almost 4,000 followers on his Soundcloud page, Rez has rightfully begun garnering attention for his infectiously dark, technically knowledgeable and refreshingly original dubstep style. As more deep heads become aware of his potential to become a bright innovator, Rez only continues to improve upon his already highly evident musical talents. With his latest release with Kloudmen on Uprise Audio, Uncharted EP on Octane and self-released Signals EP, Rez is gaining momentum with many out-of-state bookings already in early 2017. Rez presents an abundantly versatile and technically pristine catalog of bass music complete with wonky dubstep rumblers, laid-back West Coast hip-hop beats, wobbly and meditative head bobbers, swampy snare alerts, minimal mid-range growlers and percussive halftime shakers….all of which boast insightful, unique and successful perspectives on dubstep music production.
